Drinking Water
Haldimand County is responsible for the treatment and supply of clean, safe drinking water through our water treatment plants, reservoirs, and booster stations.
Water systems
Haldimand County has three distinct drinking water systems:
- Dunnville
- Caledonia and Cayuga (receives water from the City of Hamilton)
- Nanticoke (supplies the communities of Hagersville, Townsend, Jarvis, and the industries in the Lake Erie Industrial Park)
A Backflow Prevention Program is also in place to help keep potential contaminants out of our public water systems.
Water quality
Our drinking water quality is regulated by the Ontario government under the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002; Ontario Regulation 169/03 (water quality standards) and Ontario Regulation 170/03 (drinking water systems). We’re also guided by the Ontario Clean Water Agency’s Quality and Environmental Management System (QEMS) policy.

Water quality reports
Our staff take water samples weekly to ensure that Haldimand County’s drinking water is safe. In addition to weekly samples, we also report on the overall performance of each of our water systems annually.
If you require an older water quality report, contact us at website@haldimandcounty.ca.
