Recreation Financial Assistance

Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in recreation programs. To help with this, we accept subsidy funding for our recreation programs where eligible and work in partnership with the organizations listed below to provide funding for local families.


Apply for fee assistance

All applications must be completed and submitted according to the organization’s guidelines. Once you have received funding approval from an organization, contact our recreation team for information on how to register.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart provides individual child grants in support of participation in sport. You can find more information on the guidelines for the Individual Child Grants on their website, here are a few key points:

  • Applicants must be children and youth between the ages of 4 and 18
  • Programs should be a minimum of five weeks in duration and include at least one session per week. In the case of sports camps, the program must last at least five consecutive days for consideration
  • The application needs to be completed before program fees are due and before the program start date
  • Your application may take 6-8 weeks to be processed
  • Children can be funded for successive seasons in an activity, up to a maximum of $300 per activity
  • The payment will go directly to the organization delivering the program

Applications must be completed online.

KidSport Canada provides grants to help cover the cost of enrollment for children in sports, aged 18 and under. While Haldimand County does not have a local chapter, families can apply for this funding through KidSport Ontario.

The Hagersville Skating Club created a water safety bursary after Alex Ottley's tragic death in 2020. The bursary aims to provide funding support for Haldimand residents taking swimming lessons.

All applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis, and are subject to fund availability. Learn more about the bursary and apply directly through Hagersville Skating Club.

We accept subsidy through Haldimand Norfolk Social Services for our HaldiFUN summer camp programs. You must complete your application for this funding through the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit website.

Eligibility for this funding is determined by Social Services, and applications must be approved with a letter provided to Haldimand County prior to registering for programming.
