Notice of Public Meeting – Amendments to Fees, Oct 24th meeting

Please be advised that the Council of the Corporation of Haldimand County will consider amendments to the current user fee by-law for building services.  Ontario Regulation 332/12 requires the County to hold at least one public meeting to inform the public of the introduction or change in a permit fee under Section 7 of the Building Code Act.

Please be notified that a Public Meeting will be held on:

Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 11am to noon
Haldimand County Administration Building in the Haldimand Room
53 Thorburn Street South, Cayuga

The public meeting will include a question and answer period relating to the proposed increase in building permit fees set for 2025 to 2027. The increase in Building Permit Fees will provide for cost recovery of Building Division services as is required by Bill 124, changes in legislative requirements and administration of zoning, applications and development proposals.  Development Charges are not included as part of this process.   The following are proposed amendments:

• A yearly increase of .75% is proposed due to an increase in processing fees from a third-party vendor for the collection of building permit fees. The fee will apply to each Building Permit category.

The following fees are proposed under the authority of the Municipal Act and will be available under Haldimand County’s User Fee Bylaw.

• Ontario Building Code Order non-compliance fee. Where an Ontario Building Code order has been issued and there is non-compliance by the required date on the order.
• Routine Disclosure Fee – Building Services: When specific Building related documentation for a property is requested from the property owner, a processing fee will apply.
