The Rotary Trail from Seneca Park to Sims Lock is currently closed due to fallen trees and debris from the wind. The closure will last an indefinite amount of time until the trail is clear.

The Rotary Trail remains closed between Sims Lock and Young Road. The bridge structure on the trail has failed due to the sinkhole. The trail will remain closed during the duration of the repairs.

NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION – County Road 29 Bridge Rehabilitation.
Haldimand County’s 2024 Bridge Rehabilitation program is underway and the County Road 29 bridge located on County Road 29, (Fourth Line) Road east of Highway 6 is scheduled for repairs beginning on May 13, 2024, weather permitting. The bridge will be closed for the duration of the repairs. The Contractor will be mobilizing and setting up signs in the days leading up to this closure. The map below shows the roads that will be available as a detour route around the bridge. It is anticipated that work will be completed by mid-August 2024.
Staff understand that construction may cause temporary headaches to residents and business owners and ask that all affected individuals remain patient. The end goal of all construction work is to enhance our neighborhoods and communities and the County is committed to minimizing disruption by communicating construction information in a timely manner and responding to resident needs/concerns.

NOTICE OF ROAD RESURFACING – Caistorville Road from Smithville Road to Concession 1 Road, Seneca.
Haldimand County’s Hot Mix Resurfacing program is underway with Caistorville Road from Smithville Road to Concession 1 Road, Seneca and Concession 1 Road to County Townline will also be scheduled for in-place recycling of the existing pavement, resurfacing of the road and shouldering starting as soon as May 27, 2024. The Contractor, GIP Paving Inc, will be mobilizing and setting up signs in the days leading up to these repairs and the project is expected to be completed by August 31, 2024 weather permitting. Residents can expect delays due to lane closures however there will be no expected road closures. After the completion of the roadworks, driveway apron restoration will take place. Driveway culverts, guide rail and ditching will be completed in 2025 as required.

NOTICE OF ROAD RESURFACING – Highway 54 from York to Cayuga.
Haldimand County’s Hot Mix Resurfacing program is underway with Haldimand Highway 54 from the south limits of York to Cayuga scheduled for in place recycling of the existing pavement, resurfacing of the road, driveway culvert replacements or flushing, ditching, cross culvert repairs/replacement and the conversion of Grand Sports Road from gravel to an asphalt surface starting as soon as April 15, 2024. The Contractor, GIP Paving Inc, will be mobilizing and setting up signs in the days leading up to these repairs and the project is expected to be completed by August 31, 2024 weather permitting.
Starting June 10th – the contractor will be raising the elevation of the road at the old train crossing North of Townline Road East.
This process will begin Monday June 10, 2024 and last approximately 2-4 days. During this time the road in the area will have the speed reduced to 60km/h and will be down to one lane during the day and at the end of the working day will be opened fully. There will be traffic control on site during the day. There will be delays during the construction. So please be patient and respectful.
Residents can expect delays due to lane closures however there will be no expected road closures. After the completion of the roadworks, driveway apron restoration will take place and mailboxes will be adjusted to match the road surface height if required.

NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION – Sutherland Street East, reconstruction.
Starting April 8th, 2024, Sutherland Street East will be restricted to local access only for road reconstruction, sewer repair, and retaining wall repair.
As of April 8th, Sutherland Street East will be closed between Edinburgh Square East and Banff Street, estimated to reopen in August. This closure will eventually extend to Haller Crescent on Sutherland.
