Spring into local history with Haldimand Museums’ upcoming programs

This spring, Haldimand Museums are offering exciting programs and workshops for families and friends. Get creative as the weather warms up this April and May!

The Cayuga Heritage Centre, located at 19 Talbot Street West in Cayuga, is offering three new workshops and tours of the historic pioneer cabin near the Cayuga Courthouse.  

  • Ukrainian Easter Egg Painting Workshop – Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    Try your hand at creating beautifully decorated easter eggs in the traditional Ukrainian style.
  • Genealogy Workshop – Monday, April 28, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    Learn how to conduct genealogical research at the museum or at home! Bring along your family artifacts for a preservation consultation.
  • Flower Pressing Workshop – Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    Preserve your spring flowers with a workshop on a quintessential Victorian pastime.
  • Log Cabin Tour – Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Join a guided or self-guided tour of Cayuga’s local pioneer cabin from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (meet at the Heritage Centre)   

In addition to these programs, Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum in Selkirk will be hosting its annual Mother’s Day Workshop for children on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Also on Saturday, May 10, Edinburgh Square Heritage & Cultural Centre is hosting a half-day program (9 a.m. to noon) for children based around a magical theme: Fairy Tale World. Kids will use their imagination and bring their favourite stories to life by reliving classic tales through games and crafts.
