Notice of nominations for office - 2025 municipal by-election

Notice is hereby given to the municipal electors of Haldimand County that nomination forms for the 2025 Municipal By-Election may be filed at the Clerk’s Office, Haldimand County Administration Building, 53 Thorburn St. S., during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from January 23, 2025, to February 23, 2025, and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on February 24, 2025.

The nomination shall:

1. be in the prescribed form and for nominations for an office on Council, be accompanied by endorsements of at least 25 persons;
2. be accompanied by the filing fee of $100.00. The fee shall be paid in cash, certified cheque, money order, debit, Visa or Mastercard.

Nomination forms may be filed for the following offices in Haldimand County:

Councillor – Ward 1                            (1 to be elected)

Councillor – Ward 4                            (1 to be elected)

You are entitled to be an elector and to run for office if you are not disqualified by any Act or otherwise by law, and on voting day if you are:

1. a resident of Haldimand County; or
2. a non-resident who is an owner or tenant of property in the County or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; and
3. a Canadian citizen; and
4. 18 years of age.

If you plan to seek office in the 2025 municipal election in Haldimand County, you must file your nomination with the Municipal Clerk before you spend or raise any money for campaign activities. 

Voting Day is Thursday, April 10, 2025.
