New Haldimand County website, library and tourism sites now live
Haldimand County’s new, fully-redesigned website went live on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The new site offers a more user-friendly experience and addresses key usability issues voiced by the community. An improved search tool, cleaner design, and easy-to-use application forms are just a few of the new site’s features.
This comprehensive redesign was designated as a priority project for the 2022-2026 Term of Council. It began in 2023 in response to direction from the Ontario government to remedy the current site and bring it into compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) by December 2024.
Staff were successful in applying for an Enabling Accessibility Fund grant through the federal government which contributed over $100,000 towards the project.
In addition to the main haldimandcounty.ca website, new microsites were also developed for Tourism Haldimand (tourismhaldimand.ca) and Haldimand County Public Library (haldimandlibrary.ca). These sites also offer improved experiences for library users and anyone who wants to explore what Haldimand has to offer.
"Our new website makes it easier to access information and services that matter to our communities. It is so important that we continue to invest in and embrace digital tools that enhance convenience, accessibility, and connection. This a great day for our County and for our residents,” stated Haldimand County Mayor Shelley Ann Bentley.
“Today’s launch is a great achievement in our efforts to continuously improve, stay at the forefront of digital innovation, and enhance the experience for residents, businesses, and visitors. It’s a platform that will serve our community more effectively and a reflection of our ongoing commitment to providing accessible and customer-focused services,” said Cathy Case, Haldimand County CAO.
Key features of the new website include:
Enhanced search functionality: Residents can now find information quickly and accurately, with improved search capabilities that cater to all levels of digital literacy.
Online forms and applications: New digital forms allow residents to complete key applications conveniently from home, saving time and reducing the need for in-person visits.
Modern, user-centered design: The website’s clean aesthetic and streamlined navigation provide an intuitive, visually appealing experience that meets accessibility standards.
Notifications: The website’s News and Notices section allows visitors to subscribe to receive updates for various categories like closures, Council information and more.
Haldimand County invites residents to explore the new website and provide feedback on its design and functionality by taking a short survey.
