Heavy rainfall expected: learn what to expect and how to protect your home
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for heavy rainfall tonight and tomorrow, March 5. With much of the ground still frozen, there is a higher risk of localized flooding, as water will not absorb into the soil as quickly.
What to expect
- Water pooling in low-lying areas
- Slower drainage due to frozen ground
- Temporary flooding that will dissipate over time
How you can help
- Give storm drains and catch basins a quick check - clear away leaves, ice and debris if safe to do so
- Be patient - our infrastructure needs time to manage the excess water
- Stay cautious on the roads - drive according to road conditions
