Haldimand seeking further community input on ward boundary options

After extensive community engagement, research and analysis, consultants have developed two options for re-structuring Haldimand’s ward boundaries to ensure equitable representation ahead of the next municipal election. Council will consider the options on February 4, 2025.

The two options proposed address key concerns voiced by the community and take into account the guiding principles of the Ward Boundary Review. These are:

1) Effective Representation
2) Balancing the present and future population distribution
3) Respecting established neighbourhoods and communities (Communities of Interests)
4) Respecting geographical features, and natural and infrastructure boundaries

Consultants from Watson & Associates Economists Ltd., have been facilitating the ward boundary review and leading public consultation activities on behalf of the county, and will be in attendance at the Tuesday, February 4, 2025 Council in Committee meeting to present the options and address questions from Council.

Members of the public are encouraged to look at and read about the proposed ward boundary options at www.haldimandcounty.ca/wardboundaryreview. Anyone with questions or comments may share them in writing to the Municipal Clerk (clerk@haldimandcounty.on.ca) by February 3, 2025 or register to speak as a delegate at the February 4, 2025 Council in Committee meeting.

Residents who wish to learn more about the Ward Boundary Review project are encouraged to visit www.haldimandcounty.ca/wardboundaryreview and follow the county on social media for the latest updates.
