Affordable housing units on Ramsey Drive in Dunnville
Haldimand County, Haldimand-Norfolk Housing Corporation and Health & Social Services Staff at Norfolk County were successful in receiving grant funding after applying to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s (MMAH) Last Mile Funding Program. This funding is intended to support ready to build, affordable housing projects and see them completed faster with the ultimate goal of ending homelessness. In total, the MMAH awarded $2.3 million to support the construction of 42 affordable housing units within the 56-unit building. The funding has a direct positive impact for Haldimand County by lessening the financial burden on local taxpayers for this critical project.
Construction of Jim Gregory Drive in Dunnville
Haldimand County was successful in obtaining project funding through the Ministry of Infrastructure’s Housing-Enabling Core Servicing (HECS) stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP). The construction of a new roadway off of Ramsey Drive – to be named Jim Gregory Drive – will provide access to the 56-unit Dunnville Affordable Housing Project. Construction of the roadway will also unlock development lands with the potential to accommodate several hundred housing units. This funding will also help reduce costs that would otherwise be the responsibility of local taxpayers, related to road construction for the future Dunnville Fire and EMS Station that is proposed to be located in this area. In total, the province will contribute a maximum of $718,750 towards eligible project costs.
