New Haldimand County website launching November 19
Haldimand County is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its new, fully-redesigned website on November 19, 2024. The new site offers a more user-friendly experience and addresses key usability issues voiced by the community. An improved search tool, cleaner design, and easy-to-use application forms are just a few of the new site’s features.
This comprehensive redesign was designated as a priority project for the 2022-2026 Term of Council. It began in 2023 in response to direction from the Ontario government to remedy the current site and bring it into compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) by December 2024.
Staff were successful in applying for an Enabling Accessibility Fund grant through the federal government which contributed over $100,000 towards the project.
In addition to the main haldimandcounty.ca website, November 19 will see the launch of a totally re-designed site for Tourism Haldimand and a brand new site for Haldimand County Public Library. These sites similarly offer improved experiences for library users and individuals who want to explore all that Haldimand has to offer.
“Accessibility is critical, but this project goes beyond compliance,” said Shelley Ann Bentley, Haldimand County Mayor. “The project team dedicated countless hours to building a website that truly serves our community and addresses the most common, long-standing challenges we heard from residents,” she added.
Key features of the new website include:
Enhanced search functionality: Residents can now find information quickly and accurately, with improved search capabilities that cater to all levels of digital literacy.
Online forms and applications: New digital forms allow residents to complete key applications conveniently from home, saving time and reducing the need for in-person visits.
Modern, user-centered design: The website’s clean aesthetic and streamlined navigation provide an intuitive, visually appealing experience that meets accessibility standards.
Haldimand County invites residents to explore the new website when it launches on November 19 and will be actively seeking feedback to ensure it meets the community’s needs.
