Heavy Truck Routes

The Heavy Truck Route By-law regulates heavy truck traffic in Haldimand County. The by-law restricts heavy truck traffic on certain roads and during specific seasons.

The map below identifies truck routes through Haldimand County. Routes identified with red are subject to half-load restrictions.

Exceptions

There are some exceptions for heavy truck traffic on non-route roads. These include:

Trucks making local deliveries
Water haulers
Emergency services vehicles
County vehicles
Various agricultural vehicles

Half-load restrictions

To protect our road infrastructure, half-load restrictions are in effect on select roadways during the spring thaw from March 1 to April 30. During this period, vehicles are restricted to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle. Passenger vehicles are exempt.
