Parking
Parking in Haldimand County is regulated under two by-laws: the General Parking By-law, which is in effect all year round, and the Winter Parking By-law, which is in effect from November 15 to April 15.
General parking rules
In general, under the Parking By-law, you are not allowed to park:
- where prohibited
- in a way that obstructs a sidewalk, boulevard, crosswalk, or driveway
- within 1.5 metres of a fire hydrant
- within an intersection
- on the wrong side of the street
- on a roadway less than 6 metres wide
- longer than two hours where a sign indicates the limit
- longer than 48 consecutive hours on any street
- at an improper angle
- in a municipal lot in a way contrary to signs
- in designated space with no permit
- a heavy vehicle in a prohibited area (all Haldimand County roadways)
- a recreational vehicle more than twice within 7 days
- within 9 metres of an intersecting road
You are also not allowed to stop your vehicle:
- where prohibited
- in a tow-away zone
- in a school bus loading area
- in a designated space with no permit
- in a way that obstructs traffic
