Leaf and Yard Waste
Leaf and yard waste is collected curbside in urban areas throughout the county. Haldimand residents can also dispose of leaf and yard waste year-round at the Canborough Waste Management Facility, free of charge. A tipping fee will apply for commercial disposal.

Urban area curbside collection dates
The Leaf and Yard Waste program has two collection periods throughout the year:
- Spring collection: April 22 to May 25, 2024
- Fall collection: October 21 to November 29, 2024
Collection occurs on your regular collection date. View your collection schedule.
Residents outside of urban areas can dispose of leaf and yard waste year-round at the Canborough Waste Management Facility, free of charge.
Items that aren't accepted
The following items are not accepted as part of the Leaf and Yard Waste collection program and can be placed in the garbage or a backyard composter where applicable.
- Kitchen scraps
- Grass clippings
- Rocks
- Dirt
- Sod
- Flower pots and trays
- Pet waste
Yard waste collection rules
- There is no limit on the amount of leaf and yard waste you can set out
- Only paper yard waste bags (rolled shut) or open-top, reusable, rigid containers with the label “yard waste” may be used
- Branches must be bundled no larger than 1.2 m x 0.75 m
- Maximum weight of 18 kg (40 lbs) per container
- Please set out material no later than 7 a.m. on your collection day
