Women's History Month in Haldimand County
Each March, people participate in Women's History Month events and celebrations to highlight the contributions of women in history and contemporary society.
Watch our Women's History Month video to learn about how the Women's Institute worked to shape our community in Haldimand County.
This video features a timeline of advocacy efforts:
- 1910-1930: Agricultural improvement, basic education and lobbying for women’s and children’s rights.
- 1930-1950: Tweedsmuir History books documenting local history, transparency for government affairs and improved access to healthcare.
- 1950-1975: Post-war resolutions focusing on consumer safety and ageing communities.
- 1975-2000: Domestic education, community improvement, environmental conservation and gender equality.
- 2000-Present: Leadership Training Sessions and the ROSE (Rural Ontario Sharing Education) program.
