Volunteers make a difference in Haldimand every day. The generosity of those who share their time, skills and experience makes our community a more vibrant and rewarding place to live.

Volunteer opportunities

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for youth 12 years and up, adults, and seniors

Summer camps and pools

Our recreation team offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for students who would like to gain hands-on experience supporting swimming lessons, camps, and programming.

  • Volunteers for swimming must have completed at least Swimmer 6 (or equivalent)
  • Volunteers for HaldiFUN camps must be at least 13
  • Volunteers for Sports or Creative camps must be at least 14

Museums

Our museums offer exciting volunteer opportunities for both youth and adults. Volunteers over 18 may be required to provide a vulnerable sector check.

Students wishing to volunteer with Discovery Day camps must be at least 12 years of age.

Grandview Lodge

Our Grandview Lodge team welcomes volunteers for a variety of positions. Apply below or visit the Lodge’s careers and volunteering page for more detailed information.

Volunteer community cleanups

Are you passionate about the environment? Our Clean and Green program supports volunteers who want to host a cleanup in the community with supplies and assistance.


Other community opportunities

If there is a particular area of community involvement that interests you, or have a hobby or skill you’d like to share, we can help connect you with community groups in your area that may be looking for volunteers.

Required training for volunteers

Haldimand County requires mandatory Accessibility training for volunteers as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (2005) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation. Haldimand County also requires mandatory Worker Health and Safety Training according to the Ontario Health and Safety Act.

If you become a volunteer, you will be required to complete the following training courses:

You are not required to print off or fill out any certificates if prompted at the end of these videos. The submission form will reflect your completion.

Please submit your acknowledgement of training and send notice of completion and date to your direct volunteer supervisor to be recorded. If you have any questions or require a different format, please contact:  accessibility@haldimandcounty.on.ca.
