Boards and Committees

The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises Council on matters specific to accessibility and works to remove and prevent barriers for residents living with a disability.

The Agricultural Advisory Committee helps Council with agriculture and agri-business matters in Haldimand County, aiming to keep our local economy strong and vibrant.

The Business Development and Planning Advisory Committee offers advice and perspectives on business community items and provides feedback on the success of Haldimand County’s Economic Development and Tourism division strategic plans. 

The Committee of Adjustment is an independent decision-making group made up of citizens, appointed by Council under the authority of the Planning Act, to make decisions regarding requests for minor variances from the County's Zoning By-law or Sign By-law, consent applications, Permission, and Validation of Title. 

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee provides advice to Council, senior staff and the Haldimand OPP Detachment Board on matters, issues and policies for promoting inclusion, respect, understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity within the community.

The Haldimand OPP Detachment Board advises the detachment commander concerning OPP services in the catchment area of the board which includes Haldimand County and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

Heritage Haldimand assists and advises Haldimand County Council on the conservation of the community’s cultural heritage resources, in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act, the Planning Act, the County’s Official Plan and associated by-laws.

The Haldimand County Public Library is directed by a library board responsible for determining strategic priorities and working with the library’s management team to develop goals and objectives to meet these priorities.

The City of Brantford, County of Brant, Haldimand County and Norfolk County have appointed a joint Municipal Elections Compliance Audit Committee (MECAC).

The Museums Advisory Board provides advice and recommendations to Council around policy issues related to Haldimand County’s museums and artifact collections.

This committee functions as an appeal tribunal for citizens who have been served with an order under the Property Standards By-law. Application to appeal an order must be made to the Secretary of the Committee within 14 days of being served the order.

The Seniors Advisory Committee provides advice to staff and Council regarding issues, programs, policies and services provided to seniors in Haldimand. 

The Trails Advisory Committee oversees and represents trail interests on behalf of residents and interest groups across Haldimand County.

The Youth Advisory Committee advises Council on matters, issues and policies that impact youth in Haldimand County.
